Readers from around the world are participating in a virtual “read-out” of banned and challenged books in celebration of Banned Books Week, the American Library Association has announced.

Individuals, libraries and bookstores are submitting videos to a dedicated YouTube channel. Authors of frequently challenged books, including Judy Blume and Lauren Myracle, are also participating in the event.

The read-out will culminate during the 30th annual Banned Books Week (Sept. 24–Oct. 1).
