New Obama staffer to respond rapidly to negative news

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Headline writers around the blogosphere seem to have enjoyed reporting on a Huffington Post piece, “White House Beefs Up Online Rapid Response,” about a newly created position in the Obama White House. The Huffington Post characterizes Jesse Lee’s new post — director of progressive media & online response — as having been designed to help “coordinate rapid response to unfavorable stories” and to foster and improve “relations with the progressive online community.”

The American Thinker Blog characterizes the new position a little differently, saying “Regime Appoints New Deputy Minister of Propaganda”; Fox News blog says “WH Sets Up Internet Combat Team”; TG Daily titles its analysis: “Obama’s online media Terminator”; and an FAC Online newsroom favorite comes from The New American: “Obama Hires Negative News Squasher.”

With all this negative news, it looks like Lee already has a lot to do.
