New FOIA portal: one-stop shop for government info
Federal News Radio reports the launch this week of an online portal where the public can submit and track Freedom of Information Act requests.
FOIAonline was created through the combined efforts of the National Archives and Records Administration, the Commerce Department and the Environmental Protection Agency.
“FOIAonline represents a major advance in bringing the federal freedom of information system into the 21st century,” Katherine McFate, president and CEO of OMB Watch, said in a press release.
McFate was a panelist at last week’s program, “Improving Citizen Access to Government Scientific Information,” sponsored by the Union of Concerned Scientists and the First Amendment Center at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.
