Lawsuit over ‘South Park’ parody goes nowhere

The Hollywood Reporter notes that the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday refused to resurrect a lawsuit against the owners of the TV cartoon show “South Park” over supposedly misappropriated video.

The spoof show parodied the viral video “What What (In the Butt)” by the singer Samwell in 2008. Brownmark Films, which owns the video, sued in federal court in Wisconsin. The judge threw out the lawsuit, saying the parody was clearly fair use of the material.
