Judge halts Tenn. law restricting online sex ads

Saturday, January 5, 2013

The Tennessean of Nashville reports today that Federal Judge John T. Nixon for the Middle District of Tennessee has issued a temporary restraining order against a Tennessee law against online sex ads.

Backpage.com had sued, arguing that the law intended to reduce sex-trafficking also infringed on free speech.

Nixon agreed that the language of the law violates free-speech rights and interstate commerce laws.
